Austen

Brisbane artist Austen is set to close a momentous year with a headline tour of her own which will take in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne this December.

The ‘Passenger Seat’ tour follows the release of her buzzed about debut EP of the same name alongside the cathartic feature track ‘Young & Numb’ which dropped last month and was touted by media globally.

The full length includes previously released singles the liberating ‘Anthem’, the escapism of ‘Too High to Cry’ and the self-love mantra ‘Money’ which was accompanied by a vibrant and enthralling video. Adding to these dark and powerful tracks comes reflective new single ‘Young and Numb’, and title track ‘Passenger Seat‘ penned at the start of that fateful trip.

Austen’s introduction is no less auspicious, her debut single ‘Faded’ has accumulated almost 500,000 Spotify streams, with follow up ‘Darkside’ sitting on 140,000. Since then she’s been named an ‘Artist to Watch’ by Pilerats and supported the likes of The Kite String Tangle, Nicole Millar, KLP, Running Touch, Col3trane, AURORA and Nyxen as well as performing a show-stopping performance at this year’s Big Pineapple Festival.

Brad & Jackson caught up with Austen for The Music Weekly ahead of her gig while she was in Sydney.
