King IV

Interview

Posted on: November 1st, 2022

Breaking a three year silent period of development and discovery, critically acclaimed Melbourne/Naarm-based artist King IV returns with a wanton, arresting new single crafted for a heaving dance floor.

Having thrilled crowds at Listen OutBeyond The ValleySecret Garden, Melbourne Music Week, The Mountain Goat Valley Crawl and more prior to the pandemic, the future-facing artist has been called a lot of things – an “icon” (AAA Backstage), “brimming [with] attitude and commanding charisma” (Purple Sneakers), “without a doubt one of the best musicians in Australia” (Futuremag Music) with support from the likes of triple j and BBC Radio 1; now, this new music teases her most spectacular era yet.

Whipping around in a heady, humid frenzy, ‘See You Later‘ is a late-night, come-hither promise, not a question. King IV’s icy vocals skate nimbly over a thick, sticky beat with serious claws as it drags you into a world of hedonism, with the artist saying: “When we follow our desires, passions and human impulses, our whole emotional world breaks loose. Sex, power, and every devil in our nature is brought to light when we become acquainted with our most mortal cravings. I wanted See You Later to offer that freeing feeling that a night of passion can create.”

Seamlessly finding and carving out her own niche, King IV has worked with artists like The Kite String Tangle, LUCIANBLOMKAMP and Moonbase to name just a few, and is currently in rehearsals for an explosive new era of her monster live show, promising more of her trademark “spine-tingling” music to come.
