Melbourne neo-soul artist, Maddy Herbert has been playing and releasing velvety smooth jazz and soul songs with lush alt-pop undertones as Velvet Bloom since first flooring the scene with her debut single ‘You’ in 2018. Since then the rising artist has released seven singles including the 2019 favourite ‘Teach Ya’ which won Listen Up Music Org’s national competition for Songs That Heal.

Her latest aptly titled single ‘Run’ is the first taste of an upcoming debut EP that is sure to propel Velvet Bloom to the forefront of Melbourne’s thriving soul scene with its silken melodies and honeyed vocals.

 

Performing both solo and in various incarnations with her band The Vito CollectiveVelvet Bloom has ​​been a part of four tours and supported countless musicians in the project’s short time on the scene. Some notable acts that Velvet Bloom has performed with include the likes of Great Gable, Dulcie, Death By Denim, The Mamas, The Grogans, Zoe Fox And The Rocket Clocks, Teenage Dads and Kim Churchill.

Last year, frontwoman and brainchild Maddy Herbert was chosen to partake in the MIME mentoring program and was mentored by soul powerhouse, Kylie Auldist. Now, the fruits of their labour have birthed the wondrous sonic bliss that is the oozing honey pot, ‘Run’.
